Inspired by its natural surroundings, The Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa is committed to sustainable practices that preserve the delicate balance of the environment and its resources for future generations to enjoy.
Conservation was paramount in developing our hotel concept, and we're proud to say that we've gone well beyond recycling, by design. In addition to numerous energy-saving and waste reducing initiatives, customized hydro-thermal heat pumps warm and cool the building by borrowing and returning excess heat from the ocean, reducing our emissions by 30-60%.
To support local growers and organic farmers in our community, we feature seasonal and regionally inspired menus. And our seafood menu items are strictly selected in support of sustainable fishery practices and the Vancouver Aquarium's OceanWise conservation program.
Our mandate is to apply eco-friendly criteria to all of our decision-making. And by minimizing our ecological footprint we set an example for responsible and sustainable tourism. Click here to download more information on some of our other green initiatives.
Shades of Green - Pier Eco Team is the hotel's green committee and meets regularly to discuss new initiatives. The committee has a representative from each department to ensure that all areas of the hotel are covered. These Eco Team Members have a passion for preserving the environment and encourage other Pier Team Members to take an active role and support the hotel's commitment to the environment.
